Commandé en 1827 par Lodovico Gaetano Bertolazzone, troisième comte d’Arache (1782-1854) à Turin (exposé à Milan, Galleria di Brera, 1832, salle IV ; exposé à Turin, Accademia Albertina, 1838) ; acquis par Antonio Besana à Milan avant 1883, puis resté dans sa descendance jusqu’en 2011 ; acquis par le musée auprès de la galerie Descours à Lyon en 2012.
