JSON Documentation

Each entry in the Louvre Collections site comes with a corresponding page of data structured in JSON format.
To access the JSON version of the entries, simply add ".json" to the entry URL.
For example:
https://collections.louvre.fr/ark:/53355/cl010277627.json

All use of text data and images must comply with the Terms of Use.

Please note that the content provided on the Louvre Collections site (https://collections.louvre.fr) is available in French only. However, the interface and the list of JSON properties are also available in English.

Data type: string of characters.
Description: URL of the Collections site entry.

Description: title complement, specific to entries for the Department of Prints and Drawings.

denominationTitle
Data type: data table.
Description: structured data table on different denominations/titles.
Every denomination/title is associated with a "type", systematically filled in. The "type" values can be the following: "Dénomination"/Denomination, "Titre"/Title, "Titre d'usage"/Usual title, "Désignation"/Designation, "Ancien titre"/Old title, "Autre titre"/Other title.
Multi-valued property.

Data type: string of characters.
Description: long text providing information on the type and value of the date and period the object was created.
Example:

Date de création/fabrication : 2e quart du XVIIIe siècle (1737)

Data type: data table.
Description: structured data table on the dates and periods of creation.
"Type" indicates the type of date.
"StartYear" and "endYear" indicate the start and end years in digital format and "text" indicates the period in textual format.
"Imprecision" indicates the degree of imprecision.
Multi-valued property.
"Doubt" is a boolean ( null | "?" ) ) indicating possible doubt on the statement.

creator
Data type: structured data table on the declared attribution of the object.
"AttributionLevel" specifies the attribution level where appropriate. It can be a current attribution, a proposed attribution, a former attribution, another attribution or an inventory name.
"LinkType" qualifies the type of link between the creator and the artwork.
"Dates" is a multi-valued data table specifying the dates the creator was alive or active.
"CreatorRole" specifies the role of the creator where appropriate.
"AuthenticationType" indicates possible type of authentication.
"Doubt" is a boolean ( "" | "?" ) indicating possible doubt on the statement.
"AttributedBy" and "attributedYear" are specific to the entries of the Department of Prints and Drawings; they indicate the name of the attributor and the date of attribution.
"Wikidata" indicates the Wikidata corresponding to the person.

Data type: data table.
Description: structured data table on the dimensions of the objects.
The type of dimension is indicated by "type".
"Value" is a number and "unit" specifies the unit of measurement.
"AnteriorPrecision" and "posteriorPrecision" indicate specifications made before or after the measurement in the entry.
"Tri" is not systematically filled in and indicates an order of restitution in the entry.
Multi-valued property.

Propriété multivaluée.

Description: indexation data corresponding to terms of controlled vocabulary.
The indexes entered are data tables comprising multi-valued elements composed of single terms. In the case of a hierarchical thesaurus, all of the elements of the relationship are indicated at the same level.

"Position" indicates the order of restitution in the entry and starts at value 0.
