Commentaire :
'Cette académie n'a pas pu être identifiée dans les ventes Boisfremont de 1864 et 1870. Slayman (J.H. Slayman, 'The Drawings of Pierre-Paul Prud'hon. A Critical Study', Ph. D., University of Wisconsin, 1970, p. 142) la rapproche de la figure d''Harmodios' dans le groupe antique des 'Tyranoctones' (Naples) et la dit vraisemblablement inspirée du 'Creugas' de Canova (1802, Vatican), qui en possède lui-même. Une copie (H. 0,609 ; L. 0,463) passée en vente à Versailles, Trianon Palace, le 25 octobre 1970, n° 79, repr. (comme provenant de la collection Pigalle) est conservée au musée Norton Simon à Pasadena (Inv. M.75.22.D.).' (S.
