Commentaire :Ce dessin est monté avec le document RF 12280. BIS, envoyé de Rome, le 23 mai 1812 au sculpteur Roland par son élève David d'Angers. Trois pages écrites format 236 x 191, commençant ainsi : 'Mon cher maître, je serrais (sic) à vos yeux un homme négligent...' et se terminant ainsi : '....il a de bien belles espérances cette année'.
Etude préparatoire pour une sculpture en marbre conservée au musée des Beaux-Arts d'Angers, et dont deux plâtres sont restés à l'Académie de France à Rome. Voir aussi cat. d'exp. 'David d'Angers, dessins du musée d'Angers', Paris, musée du Louvre, 2013, n° 2 - Dimensions
