Commentaire :
D'abord L. Ravelli ('Polidoro Caldara da Caravaggio. I. Disegni di Polidoro. II. Copie da Polidoro', Bergame, 1978, n° 724, repr.) et ensuite P. Leone De Castris ('Polidoro da Caravaggio : l'opera completa', Naples, 2001, p. 498) ont publié ce dessin comme une copie d'après la frise du premier étage de la façade du palais Milesi, à Rome, représentant les 'Histoires de Niobé' (Ovide, 'Métamorphoses', Livre VI, 146-411).
