Commentaire :
Le dessin a été identifié par Ph. Pouncey ('A modello at Hampton Court for a fresco in Rome, in The Burlington Magazine, XCIII, 1951, n° 583, p. 323-324) comme un projet pour la fresque de l'Oratorio dei Pretoni à Florence (1586-1590). Un autre projet relatif à ce cycle est conservé à Florence (Biblioteca Marucelliana, Dis. A. 178) - cf. F. Viatte, Musée du Louvre, Cabinet des Dessins, Inventaire général des dessins italiens, III : Dessins toscans XVIe-XVIIIe siècles, t. I : 1560-1640, Paris, 1988, n° 39.

Plume et encre brune, lavis brun sur premier tracé à la sanguine. Mis au carreau à la pierre noire. Pliure horizontale au centre, angle inférieur droit reconstitué. Piqûres. Doublé. Collé sur les quatre cotés.
