Commentaire :
'Ce dessin appartient au même carnet de croquis que les feuilles de l'Ashmolean Museum d'Oxford (R. Brettell et C. Lloyd, 'Sketchbook XXV', p. 189). Le carnet a été utilisé lors d'un voyage dans l'est de la France pendant l'été 1898. 'L'étude de Saint Urbain à Troyes' (Brettell et Lloyd, n° 273 A) est exécutée de la même manière rapide et contrastée.' (C. Legrand, Musée du Louvre, Cabinet des dessins - Inventaire Général des dessins français, Lettre P, Paris, 1997, R.M.N., n° 1628, p. 401.)
