Marque en bas à droite (Lugt suppl. 2341 b). 'Steinlen donna six dessins au n° 219 de l'Assiette au beurre (10 juin 1905), consacré à la Misère du cheval. Cette étude était destinée à accompagner un texte de Victor Hugo, extrait du poème Melancholia (Les Contemplations)' (F. Viatte, Dessins de Steinlen, Musée du Louvre, Cabinet des dessins, Paris, 1960).
