donné à un artiste anonyme dans l'exposition "Exhibition of dutch art 1450-1900", Londres, Royal Academy (n° 505), puis à un anonyme flamand du XVe siècle au musée de l'Orangerie à Paris en 1935,"De Van Eyck à Brueghel" (n° 189), avant d'être considéré comme d'un maître des anciens Pays-Bas du XVe siècle à partir de 1936 dans l'exposition "Jeroen Bosch: Noord-nederlandsche primitieven" (n° 6 p. 60)
