Commentaire :
Identifié par E. Steinmann ('Die Sixtinische Kapelle', Munich, 1901, p. 417-418 ; voir aussi R. Van Marle, 'The development of the Italian Schoolof Painting', Le Havre, 1929, p. 598-602) comme une étude préparatoire pour la figure à l'extrême gauche de la 'Cène', peinte à fresque par Cosimo Rosselli dans l'un des compartiments de la partie inférieure du décor de la Chapelle Sixtine, au Vatican. B. Berenson ['Ristudiando i disegni di Cosimo Rosselli', in Bollettino d'Arte, XXVI (1933), III, p. 537-547], qui dans un premier temps doutait de l'originalité du dessin en le supposant être une copie d'après la fresque, comme d'ailleurs le suggérait B. Degenhart [in The Burlington Magazine, LXI (1932), p. 11], l'a ensuite considéré comme un original du maître ('The Drawings of the Florentine Painters, Chiacago, 1938, II, n° 2386 A).
