Cette étude servit plus tard pour la peinture 'Exercices Militaires des Marocains' exposée au Salon de 1847, n°460, conservée à Winterthur, Collection O. Reinhart. Les cavaliers à gauche se retrouvent également dans la peinture de 1833 de même sujet, conservée au Städelsches Kunstinstitut de Francfort. Robaut, catalogue, 1885, n°408. Sérullaz, Inventaire des dessins, 1984, n°1580.
