En bas, note au crayon : '22 août, samedi, Nohant'. D'après la correspondance, Delacroix a dû arriver à Nohant vers le 15 ou 16 août 1846. Le dessin du bas est une copie d'après la gravure La Vierge en gloire entourée de six saints, peinture du Titien appartenant à la Pinacothèque du Vatican.
