Commentaire :
Il s'agit d'un projet pour l' allégorie de 'La Force', pour la décoration du Salon du Roi au Palais-Bourbon. Johnson pense que les deux figures ont été calquées sur une feuille d'études de la Kunsthalle de Brême (Johnson, 1985, p. 171; voir cat. exp. Delacroix, Brême, 1964, p. 110, et Wallraf-Richartz Jahrbuch, XXVIII, 1966, p. 109).
