Commentaire :
D. Cordellier ['Hommage à Andrea del Sarto', cat. exp. (Paris, Musée du Louvre, 1986-1987), Paris, 1986, n° 44) a considéré cette étude comme une copie interprétative, sans doute faite dans l'atelier d'Andrea, d'un dessin conservé aux Uffizi (n. 626 E verso), dont la figure a été identifiée par J. Shearman d'abord avec un ange de 'L'Assomption Panciatichi' ['Andrea del Sarto's two paintings of the Assunta', in The Burlington Magazine, CI, n° 673, avril 1959, p. 130 et note n° 35 ; cf. A. M. Petrioli Tofani ('Andrea de Sarto. Dipinti e disegni a Firenze', cat. exp. (Florence, Palazzo Pitti, 1986-1987), Milan, 1986, n° 57], puis avec l'ange tendant une tenture en haut à gauche d'une feuille d'étude du British Museum (1912-12-14-2), probablement pour la 'Madonna del Sacco' (Florence, SS. Annunziata, datée 1525). J. Shearman (note ms au verso du montage) n'a pas écarté l'ancienne attribution de notre dessin à Pontormo. P. Joannides (note ms au verso du montage) a proposé d'y reconnaître la main de F. Salviati.
