Annoté, sur l'encadrement, en haut : 'Oedipe-roi. Tragédie de Sophocle'. En bas : Jocaste ayant appris (sic) qu'elle a éprouvé son fils, se donne la mort. Oedipe s'arrache les yeux de désespoir.
