Etude originale, rapprochée de Raphaël par B. Berenson (1950, note ms. au verso du montage), peut-être de la même main qu'un 'Jeune homme jouant du luth' de l'Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (P II 30 ; Gere& Turner, 1983, n° 5, repr.) d'attribution discutée entre Pietro Perugino, l'atelier de celui-ci et le jeune Raphaël, vers 1494-1500. D. Cordellier, B. Py, Musée du Louvre - Inventaire général des dessins italiens - V. Raphaël, son atelier, ses copistes, Paris, 1992. I. Q. Van Regteren Altena, voir Pisanello, INV 10 707, même composition.
