Commentaire :
Paysage portant au verso des études de têtes de femme et de nombreuses annotations. 'Une copie est conservée à Windsor (Pope Hennessy, 'The drawings of Domenichino in the collection of his Majesty the King at Windsor Castle', Londres, 1948, n° 1681, RL 5750) et une autre au Louvre par (Giovanni Francesco) Grimaldi (RF 621/cat. 813). La mention de Gabrielle Bombasi au verso indique que la feuille a été utilisée avant la mort en 1602 du commanditaire de la 'Sainte-Marguerite' de Santa Caterina dei Funari (Fratarcangeli, 'Gabriele Bombasi : un letterato tra Annibale Carracci e Odoardo Farnese', 'Paragone', n° 571-573, 1997, p. 112-130). Ce motif des joueurs de quilles est fréquent dans l'oeuvre d'Annibale à Rome : on le retrouve dans une feuille de collection privée (cat. exp. 'The drawings of Annibale Carracci', Washington, National Gallery, 1999, n° 71) et dans un dessin de la National Gallery d'Édimbourg (Andrews, 'National Gallery of Scotland. Catalogue of Italian Drawings', Cambridge, 1968, n° 243, comme Agostino).' (C.
