Autrefois attribué à Morazone (voir 'Dessins anciens', vente, Paris, Hôtel Drouot, 14 novembre 1986, n° 159) et à Francesco Vanni (note ms au verso du montage), le dessin pourrait être de la main d'un artiste flamand actif en Italie à la fin du XVIe siècle - voir F. Viatte, 'La donation Jacques Petithory au musée Bonnat à Bayonne' 16 décembre 1997 - 15 mars 1998, Paris, 1997, n° 259.
