Object name/Title: Saint Emmeran et Saint Denis
Description/Features: Commentaire :
Saint Emmeran, Bénédictin vivant au VIIe, évêque de Poitiers, de Ratisbonne et de Bavière. Victime d'une fausse accusation, il fut martyrisé et enterré à Ratisbonne dont il devint le patron. D'après Schreiber cette xylographie, mentionnée autrefois sous le titre de Saint Emmeran et saint Alban, a peut-être été exécutée à Ratisbonne ou à Nuremberg vers 1460. Elle pourrait faire pendant au saint Etienne et saint Laurent de Berlin (S. n°1417). (P. J.
