Commentaire :
Passavant donna cette composition au Maître Iam de Zwolle dans son addition au catalogue de Bartsch. Mais Hollstein le catalogue dans le corpus d'I. van Meckenem. Cette composition appartient à une série 55 scènes de la Vie du Christ auxquelles il faut rajouter quatre variantes, l'une dans le même sens et trois autres en contrepartie. Vingt-sept sujets rappellent les séries du Maître du Martyr de dix mille (Lehrs, III, 358, n°8 à 53).
Hollstein ne répertorie aucune série complète. La série la plus complète est conservée à Berlin, elle est coloriée. La Collection Rothschild en conserve quatre (362 à 365 LR)
