Ces quatre gravures furent exécutées pour le seul livre illustré par Rembrandt 'La Piedra Gloriosa o de la estatua de Nabuchadnesar con muchas y diversas authoridades de la S.S. y antiguos sabios'' de Samuel Manasseh ben Israel. Le livre évoque l'interprétation du songe de Nabuchonodosor par le prophète Daniel exilé à Babylone et admis à la cour.
