L'inscription en haut à gauche 'QUESTO ELINFERNO DEL CHAPOSAN/TO DI PISA' montre que cette composition est copiée dans le même sens que la fresque d'Orcagna du Campo Santo de Pise. Le cuivre ayant appartenu à Alessandro da Morrona qui l'inséra dans deux éditions de 'Pisa illustrata' (Pise 1787-1793 et Livorno 1812). (C. Loisel in cat. exp.
