Le cuivre était dans la collection de Francesco Gualdo à Rome en 1632.
Ottley suggère que cette gravure peut être celle à la quelle Vasari fait allusion dans sa vie de Botticelli comme le 'Triomphe de la foi de Fra Girolamo Savonarola da Ferrara (voir Appendix, 1.1).
