Selon Degenhart et Schmitt ce dessin pourrait provenir d'un livre d'illustration inachevé. Il le compare avec l'œuvre de Lorenzo di Niccolo, assez proche de Spinello Aretino.B. Degenhart et A. Schmitt, 'Corpus der italienischen Zeichnungen 1300-1450', 1968, vol. I, n°166, pl. 195 b.
