A. Bartsch dans 'Le peintre graveur', Vol. 8, 1808, p. 57 et 58, n°43, voit dans cette iconographie la femme auprès de laquelle on venait chercher le feu qui a été éteint à Rome. Albert Eyb recueille en 1495 des poèmes anciens dans un livre intitulée 'Marguerite poétique'.
