Cette estampe fut annoncée avec son pendant le Pasteur au Mercure d'août 1754.
Elle a été gravée aussi par Igonet sous le titre "La petite menagere" (P. Jean-Richard, Inventaire général de gravures de l'Ecole française 'L'œuvre gravé de François Boucher dans la Collection Edmond de Rothschild', Paris 1978, p.242, n°938.)

Eau-forte et burin. En bas à gauche du trait carré : 'F. Boucher Inv.', à droite : 'Cl. Duflos Sculp.'. Sous le titre "LA PETITE FERMIERE" figure l'adresse : 'à Paris chés Duflos rue Gallande acoté de St. Blaise. / Avec Privilege du Roy". Huit vers dédoublés de part et d'autre sont signés "Sticoti".
Filigrane : T (puits) Dupuy Fin Auvergne 1742.
