Commentaire :
Wildenstein (1956, n°1, fig. 1) situe vers 1752-1756 cette eau-forte dont seulement sept épreuves sont mentionnées et qui est la seule composition connue de Boucher gravée par Fragonard. Le dessin est conservée à la National Gallery d'Ottawa (Paris, Cabinet des Dessins,1969-1970, p. 49, n°43, pl. 20). Il s'agit probalement de saint Onuphre. (P. Jean-Richard, Inventaire général de gravures de l'Ecole française 'L'œuvre gravé de François Boucher dans la Collection Edmond de Rothschild', Paris 1978, p. 255 -256, n°1018)
