Jérôme de La Gorce attribue ce dessin à Jean I Berain en le comparant avec une copie conservée dans le recueil du Kupferstich-Kabinett de Dresde. Cette copie fournit une description du costume. ('Le recueil des « Habits de masques » du Kupferstich-Kabinett de Dresde, Jahrbuch der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden', vol. 31, 2004, p. 63-74),
