Commentaire :
Ce nielle est une épreuve unique et fait partie d'un ensemble de quatre pièces dont la Collection en conserve trois. A. Blum l'attribue à Peregrino da Cesena par comparaison avec deux épreuves analogue conservées au British Museum (inv 1837,0616.368) et à la Bibliothèque nationale de France (Ea. 27 rés. p. 3 Cl. 96 A 74341) (G. Lambert, 'Les premières gravures italiennes. Quattrocento début du Cinquecento', Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris, 1999, p. 25, n°85).

Montage de la collection du Baron E. de Rothschild avec l'attribution et le titre de l'œuvre: "PEREGRINI DA CESENA (attr. à)" en caractères rouges et initiales dorées. Au-dessous, le titre: 'Abraham et l'Ane' aux majuscules rouges. En bas à gauche, ancien numéro d'inventaire : '17984'. Œuvre conservée dans le recueil L 6 LR (Tome V) du baron Edmond de Rothschild jusqu'en 2022
