Anciennement cataloguée comme un travail italien du XVe siècle, A Blum l'intègre dans le corpus d'œuvres de l'école florentine ('Les nielles du Quattrocento', Musée du Louvre, Cabinet d'estampes Edmond de Rothschild, Paris, Compagnie des Arts photomécaniques, 1950, p. 28, n°133).
