Cette estampe fut exposée au Salon de 1742. Elle fait partie d'une suite d'estampes nouvelles pour les contes de La Fontaine. Cette scène se rapporte au Livre II, conte 8 où Quinzica réclame sa femme Bartholomée au corsaire Pagamin. Boucher s'inspire de Watteau pour le viellard appuyé sur sa béquille. Il est à comparer avec la "Coquette" arabesque reproduite par Boucher dans l'Œuvre gravé (L 90 LR folio 15).
