Commentaire :
Première des sept gravures dédiées à l'histoire de Amnon et Tamar. Deux séries complètes, une avant la numérotation à Amsterdam, Bremen, Dresde, Cambridge, Cobourg, Karlsruhe, Londres, Munich, Vienne. Et l'autre avec la numérotation à Amsterdam, Brunswick, Hambourg et Wolfegg.
Un dessin préparatoire est conservé à New York et daté de 1539. (Plassmann 4).
Une copie sur bois signée du monogramme CVS (Christoffel van Sichem) a été faite pour la Biblia sacra, fol. 35, 371, 400. (The New Hollstein, 'Heinrich Aldegrever' German engravings, etchings and woodcuts, 1400-1700, p. 40 à 42, repr. 22).
