Commentaire :
La figure de Thisbé est inspirée de celle de Lucrèce de Marcantonio Raimondi. D'autres tirages de cette oeuvre sont conservés à Amsterdam, Basel, Brême, Brunswick, Budapest, Cambridge, Dresde, Hambourg, Londres, Munich, Munster, Nuremberg, Paris, Stuttgart, Vienne et Wolfegg.
Le monogrammiste CGH grave une copie, en contrepartie, signée avec le monogramme HCG en bas à gauche, daté '153..' (Passavant IV, p. 172.10). Une autre copie faite par le monogrammiste Peter Maes, en contrepartie et sans texte est signée du monogramme PM en bas à gauche. Une troisième copie anonyme porte le monogramme d'Aldegrever et la date, elle est conservée à Dresde. (The New Hollstein, 'Heinrich Aldegrever' German engravings, etchings and woodcuts, 1400-1700, p. 103, repr. 102).
