Cette gravure fait partie d'une série de sept plaques sur le thème des vices dont les séries complètes sont conservées à Amsterdam, Berlin, Brême, Brunswick, Cambridge, Cobourg, Dresde, Londres, Munster, Varsovie et Wolfegg. Il existe plusieurs séries de différentes éditions et de feuilles seules à Basel, Düsseldorf, Munich, Stuttgart et Vienne.
Il existe un dessin préparatoire conservé à Amsterdam, daté de 1551 (Plassmann 41). (The New Hollstein, 'Heinrich Aldegrever' German engravings, etchings and woodcuts, 1400-1700, p. 113 à 115, repr. 126). B. VIII, p. 401.
