Commentaire :
Des tirages de cette gravure sont conservés à Amsterdam, Basel, Berlin, Brême, Brunswick, Budapest, Cambridge, Cobourg, Dresde, Düsseldorf, Hambourg, Londres, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Varsovie et Vienne. Cette gravure s'inspire du bois de hans Brosamer H. 596. Il existe une gravure coloriée en rouge dans la Bible Plock, conservée à Berlin. Il fait pendant au portrait de Philip Melanchthon (L 21 LR/173). Il existe une copie anonyme, gravée dans la même direction, avec un monogramme et avec des différences dans l'écriture de Luther (LVTERVS à la place de LVTHERVS). Réné Boyvin fait une copie en contrepartie avec quelques différences dans l'inscription. Cette copie est conservée à Berlin et Vienne. (The New Hollstein, 'Heinrich Aldegrever' German engravings, etchings and woodcuts, 1400-1700, p. 156 et 157, repr. 184).
