Inscription à gauche : 'AETATIS LXII'. La feuille sur laquelle était monté le dessin portait un minuscule cartel avec cette inscription : 'PETRUS BERTALDUS fecit 1580'. Et sur une carte à l'intérieur du cadre : 'portrait présumé d'Ambroise Paré'.
