Cette estampe fut annoncée avec son pendant 'La colombe chérie" d'après Caresme dans l'Avant Coureur du 9 octobre 1769. Il existe un état postérieur avec l'adresse de Crépy.
Cette estampe a servi de modèle pour un médaillon en éamil du pourtour d'une tabatière conservée au département des Objets d'Art (OA 6770).
