Anciennement cataloguée comme un travail italien du XVe siècle, A Blum l'intègre dans le corpus d'œuvres de l'école florentine ('Les nielles du Quattrocento', Musée du Louvre, Cabinet d'estampes Edmond de Rothschild, Paris, Compagnie des Arts photomécaniques, 1950, p. 28, n°140).

Montage de la collection du Baron E. de Rothschild avec l'attribution et le titre de l'œuvre: "ECOLE FLORENTINE DU XVème SIECLE" en caractères rouges et initiales dorées. Au-dessous, le titre: 'Jeune Baladin' à l'initiale rouge. En bas à gauche, numéro de catalogue et ancien numéro d'inventaire : 'Dt. 543/ 9115'. En bas à droite : "Coll. Durazzo (1872)". Œuvre conservée dans le recueil L 7 LR (Tome VI) du baron Edmond de Rothschild jusqu'en 2022
